Wiz Khayat ✉

Wiz Khayat is a partner and Head of Corporate at Rousseau Mazzuca LLP.

He advises businesses, investors and management teams on mergers and acquisitions, financing, capital markets and ongoing corporate and commercial matters. He brings legal experience and commercial judgment to significant transactions and day-to-day business decisions.

Wiz’s practice draws on more than two decades of experience across private practice, in-house legal leadership and investment banking. He has worked on transactions with an aggregate value exceeding $10 billion across sectors including real estate, energy, life sciences, metals and mining, and financial services. His approach is direct and practical, anchored in understanding business objectives, identifying risks and moving matters forward.

Wiz began his legal career at McCarthy Tétrault before joining A&O Shearman as a capital markets lawyer. He advised issuers, underwriters and financial institutions on corporate and securities matters, including international public offerings, listings and debt financings. His experience spans domestic and cross-border transactions.

As Principal, General Counsel of a multibillion-dollar alternative asset manager, Wiz co-led financing, investment and strategic private capital transactions. That role required acute attention to assessing risk and reward, aligning recommendations with investment objectives and guiding execution. He brings that practical perspective to clients seeking both transaction counsel and ongoing legal support.

Wiz co-founded Trimaven Capital Advisors, a boutique real estate investment bank, where he served as Director, Investment Banking and led or co-led M&A, financing, valuation, special situations and strategic advisory mandates across real assets. He subsequently established and led Trimaven’s affiliated private capital dealer platform, advising business operators and arranging sponsor capital from institutional, family office and high-net-worth investors.

At Rousseau Mazzuca, Wiz works alongside the firm’s litigation lawyers to support clients across their corporate and commercial needs. He is also developing the firm’s cross-border corporate practice, with a focus on helping Canadian clients pursue opportunities abroad and advising international businesses and their counsel on Canadian transactions.

Wiz holds a J.D./MBA from Western University’s Faculty of Law and Ivey Business School (Dean’s List), and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto (Distinction).

Wiz is a proud father of three boys, and a dog named Goose.
